As well as the dry-dock and floating docks available at Blohm + Voss there is also the specialised technical availability. Being able to manufacture onsite to reduce time when any unexpected issues arises and also for pre-planned work before a ship is scheduled to dock is made possible due to the in house workshops and expertise of the workforce within the yard. These include the following;

  • Mechanical Workshop
  • Shipbuilding Workshop
  • Fabrication Shop
  • Pipe Fitter’s
  • Electrical Workshop

The relationship between the yard and the City of Hamburg is also very important and the shipyard is always looking at way to reduce the environmental impact which is why the yard exclusively uses the Dockmaster and DABA. The high-pressure robotic waterjet DOCKMASTER, patented by Blohm+Voss, strips off marine fouling and paint with a 3,000 bar water-jet down to the bare steel in one sweep – environmentally friendly and economic. Wastewater is then cleansed of noxious substances in our dock water processing plant DABA
